American Robotics Academy aims to excite, inspire and motivate children about the importance of robotics technology. Our hands-on classes offer an introduction to the fundamentals of engineering design, helping children understand “how things work.” Held in a friendly, sports-like atmosphere, students work in age-appropriate teams and learn how to design, build and test remote-controlled miniature robots. We use simple, motorized machines – all made from LEGO® bricks! – to demonstrate mechanical movements and other effects.
Fun-filled technology education programs for children ages 6-14 in junior robotics using Lego® WeDo®, coding and programming using Game Maker, Scratch and Kodu Game Lab, stop animation movie making, electronics and programming with Raspberry Pi, and Minecraft Engineering. Children obtain a variety of technical skills and build competence and confidence while having a GREAT time during our programs. Friendly and knowledgeable teachers provide kids with an entertaining, hands-on, educational experience.
Using LEGO® bricks students learn how to build and program a robot to sing, dance, navigate a maze, hit or pitch a ball, play mini golf, and more. Campers will build a new project each day, learning how to make things spin, roll, turn and rock. Then they will take what they have learned to design their own thrills and challenges.
Thinkery Camps spark curiosity and inspire creative learning through hands-on, inquiry-led exploration and discovery. Each weeklong camp provides an innovative, safe and inspiring environment for campers to expand their problem-solving potential—and have a whole lot of fun. Become a robotics ringmaster, a Renaissance-era apprentice and more at one of our six STEAM- or robotics-themed summer camps, hosted at four locations across Austin. Now, no matter where you live, there’s a convenient Thinkery Camp nearby!
